About

The name for this blog comes from the hymn ‘Lead Kindly Light’ by John Henry Newman. There’s a beautiful line in that hymn that says “I do not ask to see the distant scene, one step enough for me.”

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt so far is to take things one step at a time. This doesn’t come naturally to me, and requires consistent, conscious effort, but I’ve found a deeper, richer life in living like this. It has taught me to be present to the moment, to depend more fully on God and to recognise His work in my life.

This is nothing new; Jesus instructed this in His Sermon on the Mount when He said: “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
